ANSWER-  The main purpose of education is to make one realize the purpose of our human   existence.

An animal cannot be taught to know its true self. The Human form is the only form in creation in which we can know the Swaroop of our own Atma.

We can even know and understand our responsibilities by which we can be Desh –Sevaks, Rashtra Bhakts and Jaati  Sevaks so that we can serve

 other human beings and elevate our status from an ordinary NAR and become NARAYAN.

Our Rishis have tried to tell us in the Vedas, Puranas, Geeta and Upansihads that Education is to obtain knowledge and we should not be  worried

about other things because a knowledgeable person’s living is taken care of automatically.

We should not worry at all about our livelihood! Even the insects and moths get their sustenance even though they cannot do anything !

God looks after them also.

Some saints have so beautifully explained—“ Why should we be  worried! It is for Him– the Vishwambar to worry! He is the one

who looks after the whole Vishwa.

Guru Nanak ji has so beautifully said in the Sukhmani in the 15th Ashtapadi-

“Sakal  Ki  chinta, Jisu  Man  mahi , Tis  te  birtha  koi  nahi”

The one who worries about the entire world why will he not worry about you? Are you not in the framework of the world?

 Let us take a very ordinary example.

When  we came in our mother’s womb ,did we have the ability to look after ourselves?

In fact, even our mother and father do not have the  capability to take care of us the minute we are born.

The Lord made suitable arrangements even before we were born so that we could be nurtured! The benevolent Lord arranged for the

milk to be there in the mother’s bosom so that we are not hungry from the moment we are born.

He is  Sarvagnya( the one who knows everything ) Sarvantaryami ( the one who  resides in everyone), who never goes to sleep, He is always alert.

If He is  the Knower of everything who resides  in our Atma then He has to  surely know everything about us! We should not worry

about our LIVING ( job, money for sustenance).

The Sants have said that the crocodile does NOTHING and yet he is looked after by the Lord

Samarth Guru Ramdas took Shivaji to the garden one day and gave him a beautiful Updesh. Shivaji was beginning to feel a little smug that Samarth Ramdas was being looked after by him and being the Raj Guru nearly 100-200Sants under him were also looked after by him only.

He asked Shivaji to pierce a stone with his weapon. As soon as the stone was split into two a frog came out of it and below the frog was some grass!

Samarth Ramdas ji said-“ Who irrigated this stone for the grass to grow? Who grew the grass there? It is my Ram who made

all the arrangements for the frog and if he could take care of the frog will He not take care of all the Sants?

Shivaji, Do not be under the wrong impression that you are the Provider for anyone. People call you Anna Daata ( the one who feeds  )

but actually it is the Lord who  is the Anna Daata and is looking after you , us and all the others also.!”

That is why the one who pursues education should not be worried about his  living because the one who gets Gyan gets Vidya .

There are several kinds of Vidyas. There is Atma Vidya and there is the knowledge of Architecture, Vanaspti, Ayurved etc.

All the Vidyas that are there in the world come under KNOWLEDGE—GYAN.

The highest knowledge is Atma Darshan and the other Vidyas are merely called Gyan. Once man gets Gyan then he will never lack anything in life.

Our Hargobind Khurana procured the Gyan of Science and he was not acknowledged in Bharat or given any credit, and so he went to the United States.

He got a noble prize there. He had got the Knowledge and even if he was not honored here ,did he not get a living?

There is no need to look further. Take my example. When I lost the vision in my eyes my grandmother was very worried.

She wondered what would become of me . Other children would study and make a living and how would I survive!

How did she know the plans of the Lord! We sometimes tell the Lord –“Take care of us Oh Vishwambar!—we are part of your world—

Vishwa, so you are obliged to take care of us. If  you are not able to take care then

take us away from the Vishwa and also you  must give  up the title of Vishwambar

if you cannot do either”.

When the Lord has given Himself the title of Vishwambar then the educated  of the country will get work anywhere in the world. All  doors are open for them.

One kind lady  who was quite fore-sighted, encouraged and coaxed me to start  studying Sanskrit. I  started studying and thought

if they all are saying Rama, Ramo etc  and reading the texts  I should do the same. A child’s nature is to copy.

I started learning Sanskrit and practicing it and at that time I did not think that  if  by studying I would get a job and make  a living.

The only objective was to pursue the knowledge which is the most important purpose of human existence.

In my mind I wanted to just accomplish that.

In childhood whenever I went to the temple or a Samadhi the children would wish for many material things but I would always

pray and ask that I should get the knowledge of the Vedas, and the Geeta and that I should understand the philosophy of the Rishis.

The Lord did that .Now, I have no worries about my sustenance. In fact I have so many Sants accompanying me and the  Lord provides for all of them also.

When we were  ruled by the foreigners we had got a complex of being a slave. We would sing the praises of the rulers and ape them.

 We thought we are the subjects of the rulers and that It is our duty to obey them

Gandhiji got us our freedom and we got rid of slavery .

 Some  brave young  men gave us our freedom without fearing for their life.

Today the students have to be made aware that their objective in life should not be merely for earning a living but it should be to procure  GYAN

These days the education is not as per our Samskriti. Mc Caullay had said that –

We have left the imprints of our culture on their education system so  that their Bhartiyata identity gets lost and they will  ape us.”

 Our education these days is like the Clerk Bhavana ( service attitude ).

Education is  not for uplifting ourselves  to serve the country. We study merely to earn money , to be employed. We are free but  we have the complex of a being a slave.

 We should have Sabhas all over the country ,so that the enthusiasm is infused in the students. Educational Courses  should be fashioned in that way.

Rashtra Bhakti is encouraged in the Atharva Ved  and in the Bhoomi Sukta encouragement is given for Rashtra Bhakti ( Patriotism).

It says if Man wants to progress and uplift himself he should speak the truth, practice penance, perform Yagna, do Svadhya ( self study) .

सत्यं बृहदृतमुग्रं दीक्षा तपो ब्रह्म यज्ञः पृथिवीं धारयन्ति ।

If we want to protect our country we must practice the above disciplines.

We should be Satya Nisht, we should obey the rules of the state.

We should not give up until our objective is accomplished.

Like when a Yajna  is in progress one is  not supposed to get up in between and rules have to observed.

Bhagat Singh and other patriots never gave up and fought till the end.

This Prithvi  ( maatri bhoomi) has protected our ancestors and will protect the

future generations  also and of course it is protecting us even now!

Prithvi  will give us  Prakash and food and other things for our consumption.

In one mantra itself  the bhav is so profound.We have to impart such Vedic  education to our children.

Vedas have very lofty ideals. Today  we want bring in  Dharm Nirpekshata, and want to sort out differences

between countries , to become Vishwa Premi   and we want that all the people of  the  world  should consider  each others  brothers and sisters.

England, Afirca, America and  Asia we want to remove the differences between all.

We should think that we are brothers and it is the duty of one  brother to  help  another.If  a nation need helps we should surely help.

Nowadays this is happening but not to the full extent. If anyone needs us we should be there to help. Like if there is a deluge  everyone

comes forth and provides help. There will be progress  if we are familiar with Vedic principles.

People thought Panch Janya indicates the Vaishya,  Shudras etc

 Panch janya is a geographical term. It  indicates the five continents

Africa,Australia, America Europe and Asia. May people of all five continents have a feeling of brother-hood

All the 5 continents have friendship .

 Jealousy one reason for all fights. To remove jealousy there is a manta-

 Yajur Ved Adhay 36 Mantra 18

Mitrasya chakshu 

Eh Vishwa ke praani 

Sab ek doorsa ko mitra ki drishti se dekhe.

We should look at everyone with an eye of friendship
If a friend gets a high position we should not be jealous. If we nurture feeling of   brotherhood then where is the scope for jealousy.

When we consider the whole world as a friend then without any effort we will have this feeling of joy.

 If  we earn a lakh of rupees then that happiness should not be limited to the We can get the  The friendship should be –

In  Yoga  Darshan  it says that the cloth can be coloured only when it is cleaned.

‘ Chit ki Ekagrata’  can be achieved only with the  soap of friendliness.

Our Ved has given one Siksha  —

Priyam sarvasaya pashata Priyam sarvasya pashyata uta shudra utarye.

– Atharvaveda  19/62/1

Oh Lord give us a feeling of love and brotherhood . If they are  Brahaman, Vaishya Kshatriya

Anyone  Hey Parmatama make us love everyone ,No one should look at us with hatred

Nor should we look at them with hatred.

If these values come into our educational system then it would be not be such low values in life.

Isavasya Upanishad says,

Ten Tyakten Bhujitham

tena tyaktena bhunjitha,  ma gridhah kasyasvid dhanam.

Be happy without the sense of possessiveness in regard to any object.

You protect and earn for yourselves but with a feeling of love

Not with the bhavana or greed that everything in the world should belong to me

All that I need for my sustenance I should use only that and leave the rest for my

other brothers in the world Tyaag Kar doo.

When we learn that everything in this world is not for us and only that we need

we should procure .

We should decrease our needs and wants to such an extent that we can survive with the minimum.

When we have this bhavana of Tyaag then poverty will disappear automatically. And the Society will improve.

Further the shloka says

Maa kasicd dhana

In this world when you see the wealth of the world do not be caught in it as it has never remained for ever  with anyone.

Great conquerors like Sikandar, Mandhaata etc did they take the wealth with them?


So why do you want all this wealth?

Even if you become a Crorepati you will eat only that much as you are now eating.

So do not eye someone’s wealth. LOBH is the main enemy –Saare paapon ka baap lobh hai

Geeta says it all in half a shloka

काम एष क्रोध एष रजोगुणसमुद्भवः ।

 KAAMA KRODH TATHA LOBH

Tasmat  ………Ch 3 Sh 37

They are the three main means of taking us to hell. They are the Kauravas in the Mahabharat.

These bad qualities are indicated and represented by  Kauravas.

They are  Rajasic and Tamasic thoughts.   Pandavas are Sattvic thoughts.

The three warriors –of the kauravas were pitted against the three warriors of Pandavas

Bheesham was pitted against  Shikhandi.

Dronacharya was fighting with Drupad

Karna was fighting with Arjun.

IN the same way Kaam Krodh Lobh enters our sharer. Kuru means kriyas

In the 13th chapter the sharer is called Kshetra.

Kuru means Kriya in the Kshetra __Body all the indriyas work in the sharer.

Pandavas the sad vichar and rajas tamas vichar also stay in the same Antah Karan.

When anger comes then compassion or Daya also follows.

With greed or lobh contentment then santosh or contentment also comes at some point.

If someone gets sensual desires then at some point thoughts of Brahmacharya will appear to control those desires..

 Kauravas Netas are Kaam Krodh lobh

Panadavs  netas.  are Indriya Samayam bramacharyam or daya contentment or charity.

When Prajapati created the world there were his three sons  Dev Asura and Manushya

All three could not be given the same Updesh

If   each one was given individual teachings then they would doubt their father of  partiality

So by way of thunderstorm Prajapati gave the Updesh by the  sound

Manushya were greedy so they interpreted the teachings as Daan

Do charity – do not be greedy , The Asuras were Krodhis—Daya Kiya Karo ( be compassionate ).

The Devs were Vilasi (pleasure loving ) so they interpreted the sound DA as Daaman ( control).

Such education should be given to the students  and to the professors  as  the teachers are also lack Sadbhavana these days.

They should be told how to mutually respect one another. A teacher would be impartial to the students who studied under him.

He would give the same attention  to the student who came from outside as he  would to his own son.

Even the students would serve their teachers well. They would want to serve the Guru in the best way possible

In Mithila there was a student asked the teacher what dakshina should he give

and the teacher said that just pass on the knowledge to others.

He came to Delhi Darbar and recited a poem and the King asked how should he be awarded.

The student replied that give my Gurudev the Mithila Rajya. The Darbhanaga Rajya was given as dakshina.

This Guru Shishya Bhavana was always there. In Mahabharat Upamanyu and Arun  and Shishya Ved served there Guru and

they had lot of Shradhha .

When the war was about to start Yudhishtra walked barefoot towards the enemy and everyone wondered what he was doing.

He took ashirwaad from everyone Dronacharya Bheesham His Mamas and asked  for permission to fight the war.

 They said if you were not so humble you may not even win the war.

When Vallabh went to Bardoli to do Satya Grah then  he first went to Gandhiji   and asked for his blessings.

When he returned victorious he was called Sardar Vallabh.

These are all Shikshas ( lessons to be learnt ).. Why do we prefer independence now over slavery.

It is all because of Shiksha that Gandhi And Nehru, Lok Manya Tilak propagated.

 This new wave of following  the western culture is because we have learnt to ape.

When we relate to our body and its senses we are bound and can be freed when we hear the Updesh  of the Gurudev. We get freedom!

To free ourselves from the clutches of slavery we have to propagate our Samskriti.

This should be the purpose of education  .Naitikta and Niyantra are a part of this .

ETHICS made Yudhistra come and take blessings from his elders and go the enemy side.

On the other hand the elders on the enemy side also showed their greatness by blessing him as who would want to bless an enemy?

This is not impossible but a bit difficult .Some men and women should take on the responsibility to teach the values of

moral ethical codes and the purpose of education, we have.
