Swamiji in Conversation with Shri Mewaniji (Disciple)
A CONVERSATION BETWEEN GURUDEV AND SHRI MEWANIJI

Once there was satsang with Shri Mewaniji in whose house Gurudev stayed sometimes besides staying at Lokumal Manghnani’s home and at Menghraj Bhavan in Mumbai.
Shri Mewaniji has all material comforts but at the same time is endowed with some other qualities also. He asked Gurudev some questions.
Mewaniji —“ I am surprised that people ask for material benefits from such a great soul as you Gurudev . I find that very surprising .
Some ask for a son, some ask for money and some ask for a car and some ask for all these things which are not permanent”.
Swamiji —“ True, what you say is right, but the Lord’s Maya is like that only !”
Mewaniji —“Then why do you give them these products of Maya instead of relieving them from the bondage of Maya?”
Swamiji—“I like to give everyone the fruit of their own Karmas. If I give someone a mantra for having a son then the result of that depends on the person’s faith and devotion.
The more the devotion then faster the results. Sometimes in just one mantra the wish is fulfilled!”
Mewaniji—“ What is the reason for that Gurudev?”
Swamiji—“The reason is simple . the one who puts in efforts gets results equivalent to the efforts put. This is the (Siddhnata) principle of Karma.
It is present in the creation of God in everything.”
Mewaniji—“ So, is it possible that someone who does not have a child in his destiny can be blessed with a child by the
power of the mantra?”
Swamiji—“You have asked an important question . Let me give you an example .In Singapore one Sindhi Bhai came to me. He had only daughters and the
youngest one was fourteen years old.He had already given up hopes of having a son. I got to know that he had desired for a son and so I gave him a
mantra to chant. He did the Jap of the Mantra with utmost devotion and faith. You may call it a miracle of the Lord that with a period of fourteen
to fifteen months he was blessed with a son.”
Mewaniji—“Gurudev’ this is due to your effulgence . You can change anyone’s destiny!”
Swamiji—“ No, this is what you need to understand.
What is (Bhaagya) Luck and what is (Prarabdha) Destiny?
It is after all our Karmas that are ready to fructify to become our destiny. This is called Prarabdha .
Karmas done in our previous lives become our Prarabdha of this lifetime.
Suppose we eaten something wrong then surely we will suffer from indigestion the next day.
Now to correct the indigestion we have to take some medicine or maybe go on a fast to get relief from indigestion.
In the same way we can correct our mistake of previous lives by doing some good things in this lifetime.”
Mewaniji—“ So, Prabhu we can change our Prarabdha?”
Swamiji —“Listen , this is not that simple. All our diseases cannot be cured by medicines. Along with the medicine we have to take some healthy
food and have a healthy lifestyle . If we do the reverse then the disease may get worst and may bring in destruction!
In the same way just the mantra itself will not change the Prarabdha . Along with the repetition of the mantra purity, discipline,truthfulness should be observed .
Most of all the main ingredient is ‘Shradha’—complete faith. Just as medicine on its own cannot cure the illness the Mantra on its own cannot change the Prarabdha.”
