Intimate Conversations with Swamiji
Intimate Conversations with Swamiji
These are some of the intimate conversations between Swamiji and His devotees, which have been translated from the Hindi text in the book “Yogeshwar Guru Gangeshwar” by Smt. Ratanben Fozedar. This is a 3 part volume in which she has painstakingly chronicled the daily events of Swamiji’s life from the diary of Swami Govindanandji.
- What are the Vedas?
- The word Ved has 4 roots:
- To know
- By which we can know the Supreme Divinity
- By which we can reach Self Realization (Atma Gyan)
- Where there is knowledge of Parmeshwar (that is Ved )
- So then what is the meaning of the word Veda?
- Ved is the knowledge by which we can know the Lord, where the commands of the Parmeshwar and the ways to reach Him are encoded.
- Bhagwan Veda is merely a book, so how can we say that this is knowledge?
- The main meaning of the word VED is knowledge by which mankind can be liberated. The deep meaning would be in the book ‘VED’
- Is Ved knowledge of the Lord?
- The word VED itself means SATCHITANANDA
Who is the writer of the VEDAS?- No one WROTE the Vedas. At the end of the Kalpa when there is PRALAY, then the whole world is destroyed but the VEDAS remained KALPA after KALPA(age after age ) . No one physically wrote the Vedas.
Rishis were the SEERS of the mantras.
During the long and intense Tapasya, they were able to SEE the Vedic Mantras of the ancient times.
The root of the word VED means to MOVE. The mantras themselves move or come to those who are called RISHIS.
There are mantras in the Vedas that prove that the Rishis were not writers but were able to tap these mantras in the deep recesses of their heart during their penance in the forests and caves. The Vedas are so also called SHRUTI which means Hearing.
- Is the Lord just?
- Yes, the Lord is just, as each one bears the fruit of his karma.
- But it is also said that the Lord is kind and benevolent .How can He be both?
- Yes, My Lord is very kind also. It may sound very contradictory but the Lord cannot be viewed from only one perspective. He is indeed multi- faceted. He cannot be understood by our intelligence.
There is a mantra in the Rigved that illustrates the Lord as both just and kind.
Those who are Karma Yogis, for them the Lord is just ,as He honors them for their deeds.
For a Bhakt, the Lord is Kind and benevolent because they approach the Lord and seek His benevolence.
In His message in the Geeta also, the Lord says that those who approach me are sure to know me.
A fisherman lays a net and the fish in the net are caught, but those that are at his feet are free. Similarly we need to fall at the feet of the Lord to obtain His Grace.
THE POWER OF VEDIC MANTRAS
- Maharaj, is it possible to get miraculous results by chanting Vedic mantras?
A: Well certainly. During the year 1965, when India – Pakistan war was on, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri had approached me to perform a yagya to be victorious in the war. There was an ANUSHTAHAN performed and sure enough even though India was not as well armored as Pakistan, the American Patton Tanks on the Pakistani side were easily destroyed.
- When we do not understand the meaning of the mantras how can they work for us?
- If you touch an electric wire knowingly or unknowingly, you will still get an electric shock. Similarly when we chant the mantras and we do not know their meaning even then The Lord to whom we address the mantra fully recognizes and understands them. Therefore we are sure to benefit from the chanting.
Vedic Message in the Vedas regarding the progress of the Nation.
- Are there any advices in the Vedas regarding ways to bring progress in the nation?
- In the Rig Ved ,8 methods are elucidated.
- All of you speak in one voice and not be jealous of one another.
- Your very being should understand and know that we are ONE.
- Do not interfere in the work that is assigned to others
- The policies of all should be ONE
- The assembly of people or the people working together should have the same policies and thoughts.
- Your mind and your contemplation should be unanimous.
- Your knowledge and decisions should be similar.
- All should put forward proposals that are not contradictory.
- What is the meaning of 3 types of governance that you have mentioned?
- One is Universal Governance or laws that are applicable to the universe.
Second is Governance of the Country.
Third is the Governance of this mortal body.
When all three are in harmony, there is sure to be progress ,not only for the country but also for the universe and the individuals.

Fourth is the grace of aged saints as VIDYA DEVI is pleased only when you serve the aged.
