OUR MAHARAJ SHRI----AN INTRODUCTION.
GAYATRI MAHATAMAYAN
Swami Ramanandji our Gurudev’s Guruji once told Him prior to giving deeksha---- “Son, I shall tell you the secret of all the Shastras. You are familiar with the fact that the Vedas are the source of our Arya Sanskriti and the GAYATRI MANTRA is the most important of all.
After your thread ceremony your father has taught you the mantra which you duly recite every morning and evening.

Om bhūr bhuva svah tat savitur varenyam
Bhargo devasya dhīmahi dhiyo yo nah prachodayāt
This is the ‘BRAHM_GAYATRI’ mantra. Have you ever reflected on the mystery of this mantra even though you recite it every day?”
Swami Ramanandji explained further “This mantra appears in Rig, Yajur and Sam Ved. An invocation is made to encourage and illumine our intellect by embracing the brightness of ‘Bra'hmaan.”
This mantra is called VED MAATA.
It is a treasure trove for the three Varnas – Brahmins - Kshatriyas and Vaishyas.
Shaunakiya RigVidhan mentions that only by chanting this mantra 1 lakh times can the other Vedic Mantras be revealed (Be understood by us).
If a Brahmin does Siddhi of just this one mantra he shall never lack anything in life.
What else can I say about this Gayatri Mantra? Son, you already know the Geeta wherein the chapter on Vibhuti Yog, the Lord says that among the Vedas the Gayatri Mantra is my Vibhuti. (Gayatri is the very embodiment of the Lord.)
At the very start of the ‘Shrimad Bhagwad’ Shri Ved Vyas says ‘SATYAM PARAM DHEEMAHI’.
This is an indication to the Gayatri Mantra. It is said that this scripture (Shrimad Bhagwad) is a commentary on the Gayatri Mantra.
Hindu Sanskriti comprises of the SHRUTIS, SMRITIS and PURANAS.
In the Shrutis this ‘Brahm Gayatri’ is without form or attributes.
In the Smriti (Geeta) Gayatri is projected as form or attributes.
In the Puranas Gayatri is presented in as a different divine DEVI.
Any amount of laurels sung for Gayatri mantra will always seem limited.
Swami Ramanandji concluded this topic by saying – “In short I would like to say that the reason for telling you all the mysteries surrounding Gayatri Mantra was to get you inspired to do its Upaasana."
You should first do one PURASCHARAN of the Gayatri Mantra. The Shastras say that to realize any mantra it is mandatory to do one Purascharan of the mantra.
The word Purascharan means – the number of syllables in the mantra multiplied by that many lakhs determine one Purascharan.
This chanting has to be done with proper rites and with devotion.
The child CHANDRESHWAR listened to his Guru with devout attention. He said “Gurudev, I am very happy that you have shared the secret of the Gayatri Mantra with me. This is like the deer that has the fragrance of the KASTURI within him and yet is wandering around seeking the sweet smell all over the forest.
I would have done the Gayatri Mantra Purascharan at your behest even if you would not have shared the secrets associated with this great mantra.
Please tell me where and when I should start the Sadhana and the right way to do so.”
Swami Ramanandji explained the proper rituals to his young disciple and asked him to proceed to Jwala Mukhi Peeth, near Hoshiarpur, and also indicated the right place to do the sadhana.
A Brahmachari named Keshav who served Swami Ramanandji accompanied young Chandreshwar to Jwala Mukhi Peeth.
On an auspicious mahurat they both proceeded after paying their obeisance to Swami Ramanandji.
On reaching the place indicated by His Guru, Chandreshwar commenced the Gayatri Purascharan and Brahmanchari Keshav lovingly looked after the needs of the young lad.
Three years went past. Fasting on fruits only and with proper rituals the Purascharan of reciting the Gayatri mantra for 24 lakh times was completed by Chandreshwar.
Brahm Gayatri has 24 syllables and thus this mantra has to be chanted 24 lakh times to complete one Purascharan.
An added 10% (2.4 lakhs) were also chanted in lieu of the rituals and homas, etc which are generally performed after the Purascharan.
The result of this intense chanting was an effulgence radiating from the young lad. The Lord always rewards the devotee for his endeavors that are performed in the right way. The result for austerities is never far away.
On the night of the day this ANUSHTHAAN (practice of religious austerity) was completed. Ved Maata Gayatri gave Darshan to Chandreshwar. Pleased at the intense penance of the Yog child, Supreme Mother Gayatri bestowed 2 boons on Him.
She said “Son, as a result of your Sadhana (accomplishment) I bless that in the course of your studies may you always have good memory, medha (talent) and that your dharana (concentration) be sharpened so that you can be a scholar of all the scriptures in a short time.
The second boon is that may you be blessed by all the devtas and as a result of that blessings achieve fame and recognition for spreading the Sanatan Vedic Dharma in India and all over the world.”
Chandreshwar got up from his sleep with a start and recollected the 2 boons of Gayatri Maata and His heart was filled with reverence and gratitude for His Guru Swami Ramanandji. In his heart He thanked Him again and again. After the Gayatri upaasana Keshav and Chandreshwar proceeded to Haridwar.
